Immigrants on our land

I felt like this poem was really inspiring because of the treatment the immigrants were having. They kept working harder even thought they had nothing. Even though they were being treated like pests and slaves, they dis not give up and pushed themselves into working in order for them to have a better life.

Immigrants in our own land

What is an immigrant? In the poem an immigrant is described as a peson who has left their country or bad life to live a better one. They are also described as prisoners and practically slaves. Tone? The tone for this poem is sad and depressing because the reader can feel the attitude the author has when reading the poem. Theme? The theme of the poem is “Don’t give up.” The immigrants in the poem kept surviving in jail and kept going. They took the hard way and for some of them it payed off.

A vignette in time

The story we read was very interesting. It got me thinking about how the future can change by doing small everyday things. It is also interesting how people can turn on you because of one simple mistake

WHAT’S NEXT FOR ME?

I think that we should do everything as a whole because there are some people who are behind and to shy to speak up. This would keep everyone on track and get everyone to participate.

On Self Reliance paragraph

I have learned why it is bad to be fake and act like others. Emerson has shown me how pretending to be someone your not is not necessary and that we should be ourselves. He shows good ideas  that makes us wonder if we should change.
