The tone for this poem is sad and depressing because the reader can feel the attitude the author has when reading the poem. Theme? Essay Response

I agree that without an antagonist or side characters there will be no understanding of what kind of person the main character is. In Fahrenheit 451 without Clarisse or Beatty we would be stuck with the same old Montag and his boring personality. His life has changed because of these people and he has changed as well. Clarisse has change his view of life while Beatty has made him more interested in finding out why books are not to be read by making him a wanted criminal for reading them.
